Come into the Den
The Den on Sunset is like you would expect by its name, a little dark place, down some steps, into a room with the fireplace and horseshoe naugahyde booths, like you would expect to see the Rat Pack sitting in. Just outside of the dining room though is a bright patio, where guests can soak up the sun and dine al fresco, surprisingly without traffic noise, even though the restaurant sits just below Sunset Boulevard.
While the restaurant has seen many iterations, as a sushi bar and then a waffle house, for seven years it has been the Den. The place recently underwent a renovation, and along with new furnishings, the management revamped their menu, including a Sunday Funday brunch menu.
Offerings include obligatory mimosas, with a reasonably priced of $15 for a bottle for the table, along with a carafe of orange juice. Entrées include eggs with a twist including the Benny Burger, which is basically eggs Benedict over a beef patty. There’s also a unique Personal Breakfast, which is flatbread covered with mozzarella, fluffy eggs, prosciutto, and bianca sauce. For sweets, there are beignets made with Nutella and banana cream.
There is just enough selection and variety on the menu to make your choice easy and to satisfy, and all dishes are priced below $15.
The wait staff is affable and casual. Upon hearing that everything was tasting excellent at our table, we got a double thumbs-up and a, “You got it,” from our enthusiastic young server.
The food is all very excellent, as is the service, and to boot, they have parking. What more could you ask for on your Sunday?
